Honoring Dr. Randy Hatchett: A Faithful Shepherd and Scholar
The San Felipe Baptist Association is delighted to recognize Dr. Randy Hatchett, Interim Pastor of First Baptist Church, Richmond, Texas, as this week’s Pastor of the Week! Dr. Hatchett is a man whose life and ministry beautifully reflect a deep love for God, His Word, and His people.
Well known across Texas Baptist life, Dr. Hatchett is respected as both a pastor and professor, a true servant-leader whose wisdom and humility have blessed countless churches and students alike. He currently serves as Professor of Theology in Houston Christian University’s School of Christian Thought, where he also leads as Program Coordinator for Theological Studies and Christianity. Beyond the classroom, Dr. Hatchett has contributed to numerous academic works in theology and philosophy, helping shape the minds and hearts of the next generation of Christian leaders.
In addition to his academic calling, Dr. Hatchett has faithfully served as interim pastor to many churches, including several within our Association. His steady leadership and gracious spirit have guided congregations through times of transition with clarity, peace, and hope. At First Baptist Richmond, he continues to model what it means to love the local church deeply—preaching God’s Word faithfully, listening with compassion, and leading with grace.
Those who know Dr. Hatchett will tell you he is a kind, generous, and approachable man. He greets everyone with a warm smile and a listening ear, and his presence radiates both joy and calm. His ability to excel in the academic world while remaining deeply rooted in pastoral ministry is a rare and wonderful gift.
