Ten years ago, this church started with a small congregation led by Pastor Sam Evangelista with its first worship service held at the Quitoriano’s residence on February 23, 2014. With the generous support of Trinity Baptist Church of Katy, Texas and San Felipe Baptist Association, the church was able to pursue its goal of ministering to the unchurched and the unsaved particularly among Filipino families in Houston, established its discipleship programs and other ministries vital to the growth of the church.
The church was initially registered as Trinity Phil-Am Christian Church and the Lord provided a space at The Link in Katy as the first home of the church. However, a calamity occurred that caused the church to vacate its present location. By God’s providence, the generosity of the Church on the Rock led by Pastor Jorge Cardenas, the Senior Pastor, accommodated us, and use this facility until today.
Meanwhile, Pastor Sam opted to retire in the summer of 2018. Nevertheless, the work continued and carried on by the Lord’s direction with Pastor Romy Adduru, who was ordained on the 4th of December 2015, and the deacons and leaders of the church taking the lead to undertake the ministries of the church by the grace of God which is now renamed the Summit Christian Church.
In 2019, the church experienced some serious challenges due to the pandemic. But the Lord gave the church another platform to continue the ministry and keep the church family together. On the same year, the Lord also opened the door for church planting in the Philippines. Summit Church embarked on this missionary work in Tuguegarao City, Province of Cagayan, Philippines. By God’s sustaining grace, the mission church is now expanding its ministry to other parts of the City.
Summit Church is presently reaching out to kids in the community with the gospel of Christ through the Child Evangelism Fellowship and many of the kids professed their faith in Christ. Likewise, the Lord has blessed our Home Bible Studies that enhanced the fellowship and spiritual feeding of the church family.
