“And I will give you shepherds after my own heart, who will feed you with knowledge and understanding.”- Jeremiah 3:15
October is Pastor Appreciation Month, and October 12, 2025, is Pastor Appreciation Day! What a wonderful opportunity to celebrate the shepherds God has placed over us.
Being a pastor is a divine calling, but it’s also a heavy responsibility. Many don’t see the late nights, the tearful prayers, or the sacrifices pastors and their families quietly make. They carry our burdens, show up when we need them most, and faithfully preach God’s Word week after week.
This October, let’s go above and beyond to bless our pastors. Think outside the box! Here are a few ideas to get you started:
- Write thank-you cards – personal notes mean so much.
- Gift an experience – guided fishing trip, ballgame tickets, or a weekend getaway.
- Organize a class or church-wide gift – present it during Sunday service.
- Give time off – an extra Sunday off (not vacation!) or a night away with their spouse.
- Meet practical needs – cover a car repair, home project, or meal delivery.
- Share publicly – make a video of church memories or run a Facebook ad celebrating your pastor.
- Cook their favorites – bake desserts or meals throughout the month.
- Bless their marriage – concert tickets, golf, or a nice dinner out.
- Gift cards with thought – something he truly enjoys.
- Pray intentionally – set aside worship time to lift up your pastor and family.
Big or small, every act of appreciation reminds your pastor that his labor is not in vain. This month, let’s shower our shepherds with love and gratitude.
