This week, the San Felipe Baptist Association is honored to recognize Mitch Maher, Lead Pastor of Redeemer Community Church in Katy, Texas, as our Pastor of the Week. Mitch has faithfully served Redeemer since August 2008, and his life and ministry are a powerful testimony to resilience, faith, and wholehearted devotion to Christ.
Mitch is passionate about helping people understand the Scriptures and see the grand storyline of the Bible. Beyond his local church ministry, he regularly teaches at the Kanakuk Institute in Branson, Missouri, as well as Downline Ministries in Memphis, Tennessee, and Northwest Arkansas. He is also the creator of ClarifyingTheBible.com, a two-hour video presentation and workbook designed to give believers a clear, accessible framework for understanding God’s Word. Mitch’s love for the Bible is unmistakable—and contagious.
Together with his wife, Tara, Mitch is raising their three daughters, Macy, Molly, and Maddy. Over the past few years, the Maher family has walked through an extraordinary season of trial, as Mitch, Tara, and one of their daughters were each diagnosed with—and successfully fought—cancer. Their story is one of courage, faithfulness, and deep trust in the Lord’s mighty provision. Through it all, Mitch has continued to lead with humility, hope, and unwavering faith.
If you stop by Mitch’s office, don’t be surprised if he tosses you a football. A former quarterback at the University of North Texas, Mitch set numerous records during his collegiate career. His athletic discipline carries over into every area of life. As a CHIPSTARTER award recipient, Mitch once set a bold goal to train for and climb Mount Rainier, reflecting his focused, determined approach to leadership.
Whether in ministry, athletics, or life’s hardest battles, Mitch is known for doing the hard work, keeping his eyes on the prize, and finishing strong. We are grateful for his love for the church, his passion for God’s Word, and his heart to see people come to faith in Jesus Christ. Thank you, Mitch, for faithfully serving and inspiring so many.
