Remembering 9/11

Remembering 9/11

Twenty-five years ago, our world shifted in a single morning. On September 11, 2001, moments of unimaginable tragedy unfolded in New York City, at the Pentagon, and in a quiet field in rural Pennsylvania. It was a day that brought deep sorrow, uncertainty, and a profound sense of vulnerability.

Yet in the midmost heart of that darkness, humanity’s brightest light shone through. We saw extraordinary courage in the passengers who sacrificed everything to save others, and in the first responders who ran into danger without a second thought. In the days and months that followed, something remarkable happened across our towns and cities. Neighbors turned toward one another. People filled church pews seeking refuge, community, and comfort. We remembered what it felt like to stand together, bound by a shared compassion and a gentle realization of how much we truly need each other.

A quarter of a century later, it is still difficult to make full sense of those events. Life today moves fast, and over time, it can be easy for communities to feel a bit more distant, or for the quiet togetherness we found back then to fade. But the invitation to love, support, and care for one another remains just as vital now as it was then.

Times of trouble often remind us of what matters most. They prompt us to look for hope, for deeper answers, and for the peace that comes from a loving God who meets us right where we are. While none of us would ever wish to relive the pain of that season, we can hold onto the beautiful spirit of unity it revealed. We can choose to be the warm smile to a struggling neighbor, a safe haven for someone seeking comfort, and a steady voice of grace in a weary world.

As we pause to remember all those whose lives were forever altered on 9/11, let us give thanks for the ultimate hope and victory we have in Christ. Let us carry forward the call to be ministers of reconciliation—offering rest to the weary, community to the lonely, and light to every quiet corner of our world.

2nd Chair Leader Retreat

SIGN UP DEADLINE 9/14/26 4:37pm ( not a typo...)

Our vision as an association is simple yet profound: Collaborating in Christ to Reach the Lost, Raise up the next generation of church leaders, and Revitalize the church.

One of the single best investments we can make in our churches today is in Next Generation Ministry—specifically those serving in Children’s, Youth, and Worship ministries. While the timeless truth of the Gospel never changes, culture and technology shift rapidly. We want to help equip, equip, and encourage the leaders on the front lines of ministering to our kids and youth.

To help with this, the San Felipe Baptist Association is partnering with the South Central Baptist Association for their upcoming 2nd Chair Leader Retreat at Camp Tejas!

This retreat is a fantastic opportunity for your children's, youth, and worship leaderes to be equipped and encouraged.

SFBA Master Policy Insurance Inquiry

SFBA Master Policy Insurance Inquiry

Join us for a town hall interest meeting on 9/15 @ 3:00pm. - Tuesday, September 15, 2026

SFBA is investigated the possibility of a Master Insurance Policy for SFBA churches.

We will need a minimum of 15 churches to move forward in this process. We will answera. few general questions and consider what our next steps could be if the interest meets our threshold requirements. Likewise, we will look at some other FAQ's and see if we can take some next steps to help individual churches look into new plans OR see if we want to move forward with a Master Policy through the Association.

What We Need & Next Steps

To qualify for this program, we need at least 15 participating churches.

While there are still specific details and questions to work through, we want to open the floor to see if there is enough interest across SFBA to move forward.
