Remembering Bob Hairston

Reverend Bob Hairston, age 92, passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 9, 2025, in San Antonio, Texas, surrounded by family. A beloved pastor known for his joy, wit, and deep compassion, Bob devoted his life to sharing God’s Word and strengthening churches across the Houston area and the San Felipe Baptist Association.

Born June 16, 1933, in San Antonio, Bob felt called to ministry as a young man, eventually graduating from Baylor University and Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. After years of service throughout South Texas, Bob became pastor of Calvary Baptist Church in Rosenberg, where he guided the congregation through seasons of growth and major building efforts. His leadership extended throughout the San Felipe Baptist Association, where he served as Moderator and later became a trusted interim pastor for numerous congregations. Even after retiring from full-time ministry in 1996, Bob continued to preach, encourage pastors, and help churches navigate transition with wisdom and grace.

Bob also made meaningful contributions through the South Texas Children’s Home and the Baptist General Convention of Texas. Known for making everyone feel valued and heard, he approached ministry with humor, humility, and a genuine love for people.

He is survived by his children, grandchildren, and extended family who will carry forward his legacy of faith and kindness.

A funeral service will be held November 23, 2025, at 2:30 p.m. at Trinity Baptist Church in San Antonio, with burial November 24 at Williams Creek Cemetery, La Grange.
