Finding Peace in the Person of Truth

Finding Peace in the Person of Truth

In a world of 24/7 news cycles and constant social media pings, it’s easy to feel overwhelmed. Right now, our screens are filled with the complexities of the Middle East—a region steeped in thousands of years of history, land disputes, and conflicting ideologies. From the struggle of Israel to the ancient divide between Sunni and Shia, and the geopolitical chess matches of global powers, the "why" behind the headlines can feel like a moving target.

It is tempting to get swept up in the rhetoric and the noise and just the sheer speed and volume of information. We see political ideologies, nationalistic fervor, and even differing biblical interpretations being used to justify various actions- some of which are right and others...not so much. When experts disagree and algorithms push us toward division, we are left asking the same question Pilate asked Jesus over two thousand years ago: "What is truth?" (John 18:38).

Beyond Ideology to the Person

The beauty of the Gospel is that Truth is not an abstract concept, a political platform, or a complex geopolitical theory. Truth is a person.

Jesus tells us clearly in John 14:6: "I am the way, the truth, and the life." While the world fights over borders and labels, we serve a God whose "way" is higher than ours and whose "life" was given so that every nation, tribe, and tongue might experience eternal freedom. When we anchor ourselves in the person of Jesus, the noise of the world begins to fade, and the glory of God’s sovereignty comes into focus.

Growth in the Midst of Grieving

It is hard to watch the suffering of innocents and the reality of war. Yet, history—both biblical and modern—reminds us that God is never absent from the conflict.

  • The Early Church: In the book of Acts, it was intense persecution that scattered the believers, leading to the Gospel reaching "the ends of the earth."

  • The Modern Church: Today, we see the underground churches in places like Iran and China thriving and growing under immense pressure.

Even as bombs fall and uncertainty rises, the Holy Spirit is at work. God can use what is meant for evil to bring about a harvest of souls that no political, religious, or social regime can stop.

Our Response: Prayer and Perspective

As we approach the Easter season, we are reminded that the ultimate "Truth" was once beaten, mocked, and nailed to a cross. But the story didn't end there. Christ’s victory over sin and death is the only victory that truly settles the score.

While our personal opinions and political perspectives are part of our lives (and in the right persepctive they should be...), let’s not let them distract us from the real battle: the battle for the souls of men and women.

Let’s commit to a different kind of focus today:

  • Pray for the innocent: For the families caught in the crossfire who simply want peace.

  • Pray for the soldiers: For protection and for their hearts to be turned toward the Prince of Peace.

  • Pray for our brothers and sisters: For the underground church to remain bold and protected.

  • Pray for the lost: That those currently blinded by false ideologies would have a life-changing encounter with the living Christ.

The conflicts of this world are temporary, but God’s Kingdom is unshakable. Let’s keep our eyes on the one who has already won the war.
