The Beauty of Unity in the San Felipe Baptist Association

The Beauty of Unity in the San Felipe Baptist Association

Together for the Gospel!

There is something undeniably beautiful, refreshing, and deeply joyful when God’s people move in harmony. Centuries ago, the Psalmist captured this exact feeling, and it still rings true for us today:

“Behold, how good and pleasant it is when brothers dwell in unity! It is like the precious oil on the head, running down on the beard, on the beard of Aaron, running down on the collar of his robes! It is like the dew of Hermon, which falls on the mountains of Zion! For there the Lord has commanded the blessing, life forevermore.” - Psalm 133

Clarifying Our "Why"

Successful organizations always have profound clarity about what they do and why they do it. Discerning exactly what God has called us to do in this specific season—and aligning the tools, gifts, and resources He provides—takes time. It requires refining, courage, hard decisions, change, and a little bit of trial and error.

The San Felipe Baptist Association is no different. For more than 77 years, our core anchor has never changed: we exist to help churches fulfill the Great Commission and the Great Commandment. By God’s grace, it never will.

While the presentation has changed over the decades, our foundational mission remains: to serve, support, and resource the gospel impact of the local church. We truly believe the local church is God's brilliant gift to the world to carry out His mission.

Here are just a few ways our association brings this mission to life:

  • Connecting Churches: We bring congregations together to share resources, ideas, responsibilities, and to celebrate what God is doing collaboratively.

  • Strategic Networking: We plug our churches into broader networks like state conventions (BGCT or SBTC), the North American Mission Board (NAMB), the International Mission Board (IMB), the Southern Baptist Convention (SBC), and other strategic partnerships.

  • Encouraging Pastors: Through monthly regional pastor roundtables in four different areas, lead pastors come together to pray, talk, and build one another up.

  • Demographic and Ministry Insights: We study community growth, housing changes, and population shifts to help churches evaluate opportunities for new works in rapidly growing areas.

  • Insight and Training: We equip search committees, provide demographic studies, and connect ministry leaders (worship, children, youth, and missions) to support one another. (Just look at our beautiful Night of Worship in April, where three worship teams from over ten of our association churches served together!)

  • Strategic Adjustments: We help churches maximize facility use to reach unreached population segments, and we provide reliable pulpit supply to give pastors a well-deserved day off while training young preachers.

Our Vision: The Roadmap Ahead

If mission is our "why," vision is our roadmap for the best possible outcome. While missions remain steady, visions often update once or twice a decade as God moves the needle and provides fresh clarity.

Our association’s vision is: “Collaborating in Christ to Reach the lost, Raise the next generation of church leaders, and Revitalize the Church.” These four pillars—collaboration, reaching, raising, and revitalizing—direct our resources right where God wants them.

The Mission and Vision in Action!

The most exciting part of a vision is watching it come to fruition. Look at what God has done through our collaborative efforts just in the last few months:

  • First Beasley and Calvary Baptist (Rosenberg): Through partnership with the Association and the BGCT, First Beasley’s Beasley Kids after-school program has already baptized four children this year! To keep the momentum going, Calvary Baptist is stepping in to help them host VBS next week.

  • The Grove, First Sealy, and Waypoint: Through a partnership with the Assocaiton, these three chruches are bringing pre-teen students to Splash Camp this Thursday, Friday and Saturday. Pray for them and their sponsors as the next generation hears the gospel and given the opportunity to grow in the knowledge and goodness of Christ.
  • First Bellville, Twin City Community Church, and FBC Richmond: Twin City Community Church (a growing church plant in Richmond/Rosenberg) hosted a spectacular VBS and community outreach week. The youth from First Bellville came down to do some of the heavy lifting on the ground, and First Baptist Richmond generously opened their gym and showers for the youth to stay in. Three churches, one community impacted, one Savior glorifed though the Church!

  • Waypoint Church and Pecan Grove Baptist: These two congregations partnered with STCH Ministries for a joint mission trip to Belize, sharing the joy of international evangelism and cross-cultural ministry.

  • FBC Katy and FBC Sealy: Earlier this year, a team from First Baptist Katy led a powerful Lay Renewal weekend at First Baptist Sealy, resulting in a sweet season of testimony, discipleship, and encouragement.

Looking Forward Together

These incredible stories show the true value of being part of an association. Together, we can do infinitely more for the sake of the gospel than any single church could ever do alone.

Your continued prayers, participation, and financial generosity are what allow the San Felipe Baptist Association to serve, support, and resource our local congregations. As master-planned communities rise and the nations move into our neighborhoods, the mission field is right on our doorstep. Thank you for walking in harmony, living out the vision, and trusting the Lord with the days ahead! As we live out our mission and vision, we are developing strategies to help us honor the Lord and proclaim the good news of Jesus Christ for generations to come!

Mission Night

Mission Night

Sunday, July 26, 2026

Redeemer Community Church in Katy will be our host for a great time of celebration. We will be celebrating summer mission trips and collaboarting in upcoming opportunities for missions collaboartion in our Association.  We will hear from lay leaders who have been on mission this year and connect churches together for gospel mission opportunities in the future. This will be a great night of celebration and collaboration. If your church supports a missionary or mission organization, connect with your pastor about setting up a booth or sharing your testimony about your mission experience on Sunday, July 26.
