Why Your Church Should Be on Mission

Join Us: A Night of Missions

Every year, an estimated 1.5 million people from the United States pack their bags, step out of their comfort zones, and head out on short-term mission trips. According to data highlighted by Relevant Magazine, these believers invest nearly $2 billion annually into global ministry. That is a staggering investment of time, energy, and resources—but it is worth every single penny.

Being "on mission" isn't just a program your church runs; it is the very heartbeat of the Christian faith. Whether it is across the ocean or right in your own backyard, engaging in missions radically transforms both the communities being served and the churches doing the serving.

Why Missions Matter: The Core Impact

When a church commits to going, sending, and supporting, it fundamentally changes the culture of the congregation. Here are a few vital reasons why your church needs to stay actively engaged in missions:

  • Fulfilling the Great Commission: Jesus didn't give us a suggestion; He gave us a command to go and make disciples of all nations. Missions provide a direct pathway to share the Gospel with those who have never heard it.

  • Shifting Worldviews & Deepening Faith: Stepping out of our everyday comfort zones forces us to rely on Christ like never before. For youth and young adults, a mission trip is often a spiritual rite of passage. It expands their worldview, proving that God is the King of the entire world, not just our immediate community.

  • Sustaining Long-Term Workers: Short-term teams add vital fuel to long-term spiritual flames. By partnering with long-term missionaries, short-term teams help them accomplish specific project goals, offer deep discouragement-breaking encouragement, and bring back stories that help champion the missionaries' needs at home.

  • Clarifying God's Calling: There is no better place to explore a lifelong calling to ministry than on the mission field. A short-term trip often sparks the curiosity and connections needed to launch the next generation of full-time missionaries.

As a Southern Baptist Church, your faithful giving to the Cooperative Program directly fuels this work, putting your congregation on the frontlines of the International Mission Board (IMB). If you look at the newly released IMB 2026 Annual Statistical Report, you will see incredible data on how God is opening doors among unreached people groups. It is a powerful reminder that we are part of a massive, global movement.

Join Us: A Night of Missions

Because we want to encourage you to stay on mission and foster new kingdom partnerships, we are gathering the local church community together for a special event.

On July 26 at 6:00 PM, we are hosting a Night of Missions at Redeemer Community Church in Katy.

Please Note: This is not a fundraiser. It is strictly a night of celebration, prayer, collaboration, and encouragement.

Come enjoy light refreshments, connect with missions teams from neighboring congregations, and hear powerful, 4-to-6-minute testimonies from laypeople who have been on the ground serving this past year. Our prayer is that this night sparks new relationships and inspires our churches to team up for joint mission trips in the coming year.

How You Can Participate:

  1. Show Up: The event is completely free and open to everyone. Bring your family and your heart for the nations!

  2. Represent Your Church: Talk to your pastor about securing a display table so your church can share what God is doing through your local and global ministries.

  3. Share Your Story: If you have a testimony from the field that would encourage our Association, let your pastor know right away so he can connect you with our event organizers.

We look forward to seeing you in Katy on July 26 as we connect, pray, and link arms for the sake of the Gospel!
